Độ dài: dù rễ như là kho cất dưỡng chất để ra chồi, nhưng cũng chúng ta không nên cắt quá ngắn. Độ ngắn tối thiểu để chồi mọc mạnh khoảng 13 lần con đường kính rễ. Về độ dài thì ko hạn chế (càng dài càng tốt).
3. Phương pháp cắt gọt rễ
Sau khi dùng kéo cắt rễ, dùng dao bén gọt lại giống như gọt cành giâm. Các rễ phân nhánh dù nhỏ hay to trên đoạn rễ ấy nên giữ lại. Vì rễ nhỏ sẽ mau sinh ra rễ nhỏ hơn. Điều này, sẽ tạo điều kiện cho cây tương lai khi ra chồi sẽ mọc mạnh hơn.
Sau lúc cắt gọt xong có thể nhúng rễ vào Viprom để kích thích rễ con ra nhanh.
4. Kỹ thuật giâm cành bằng rễ và săn sóc
Giâm rễ: Do rễ thường nằm trong đất, nên nó chẳng thể thích nghi kịp với điều kiện trơ ra như cành. Do vậy, nếu như giâm rễ cạn quá thì rễ sẽ bị khô ko ra chồi được.

Mặt khác, rễ cũng rất dễ bị các loại bệnh tấn công nên cũng ko cần phải phun ngừa thường xuyên như giâm cành. Chỉ cần 1 - 2 lần kể từ giâm cho tới khi có chồi non (khoảng 1 - 2 tháng rễ mới ra chồi). Nhưng lúc có chồi non thì nên phun đề phòng định kỳ như phần giâm cành để bảo kê chồi non.
